Reflection on MacEwan Consulting’s first year

I would like to thank everyone who has reached out to me noting the first anniversary of MacEwan Consulting! I’ve been meaning to post something, but the work of the business has thankfully kept me so busy that finding time to write has been a challenge. However for my first anniversary, it’s important to me that I reflect on how fortunate I have been this past year.

People often ask how “it” is going with the cloaked fear that “it” may no longer exist. However I’m fortunate to respond that “it” is going very well and I’m having fun!

Through my work, I’ve engaged with many diverse people and projects. The different skills I’ve applied serving my clients, such as professional coaching, program design and technical assistance, leading professional development, project management, and curriculum design/writing have kept things truly interesting and enjoyable. Such diverse projects keep me energized and fresh for the next one!

Reflecting on the past year wouldn’t be completely honest if I didn’t note what an incredible amount of work and hustle it’s required. I’ve worked hard before, but this is a different level. I love it, and it’s fun, but woo! It’s a lot.

As I think about where I am now, and how I got here, I’m thankful for my mentors, especially those from NJSACC, who helped me grow into the person I am. I’m truly lucky to have incredible friends and colleagues – and an extremely patient wife – who have supported me as I launched this business!

Before this devolves into full-on rambling, I’ll end by saying that I practice what I preach – I’m a huge proponent of reflection as a tool for improvement and self care, and an even bigger proponent of writing to share those results. This note is a result of those beliefs. And although I’ve been remiss in writing this past year, MacEwan Consulting’s second year will see more of it. I can’t wait to share the results with you!

Thank you all for your continued support!
